Pop A Cappella
Grades 6-12 and Collegiate, Auditioned

Pop A Cappella Choir is an add-on singing experience for advanced middle school and high school-aged singers in Intermezzo, Chorale or Vocal Artists, singing popular music of various genres arranged for voices and vocal percussion.

YCKC offers two levels of Pop A Cappella
Resonance: Open to all YCKC singers in Intermezzo, Chorale or Vocal Artists
Audacity: Audition only advanced Pop A Cappella

Pop A Cappella meets from 8-8:50 pm on Monday evenings at YCKC’s State Line location beginning in August.

Jana Houston, Director

Mrs. Houston earned a Masters of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Kansas in 2021 and a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Missouri - Kansas City's Conservatory in 2014. She is a firm believer in quality music and singing experiences for singers. She has been a secondary choir director for over 10 years, and has been a part of YCKC since its founding in 2017.

Ryan Main, Director

Ryan Main is an award-winning composer, conductor, and educator whose music is performed by choirs around the world. He serves as the founder and Composer-in-Residence of the Youth Chorus of Kansas City and professor at UMKC’s Conservatory. Through his compositions, teaching, and mentorship, Ryan is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality music education and supporting the next generation of composers and singers.
